How to Get Rid of Fish Smell

The smell of fish is something that lingers in the fishing boat, in the kitchen, the pots and pans, in your car, on your hands, in your clothes and anywhere else that is touched by the fish.

It is not a pleasant smell for most people. I know there are those that say they grew up thinking that fish was supposed to smell like fish, but most find the lingering odor after the fish is long eaten to be unpleasant.

There are many home type remedies that are professed to work. Let me list some here for you to try.

How to Get Rid of Fish Smell

1.) Wash or clean with a solution of vinegar and water.

2.) Wash or clean with a solution of bleach and water.

3.) If it is your refrigerator or freezer, empty it and turn it off. Place a container of boiling hot water with a sliced lemon in it. Leave for about an hour. Then make sure all the smelly ice is out of the freezer area and wipe down the walls and shelves with lemon water. Wipe each item thoroughly before replacing in the refrigerator or freezer.

4.) For the refrigerator or freezer, purchase vanilla-scented fridge deodorizer. It is supposed to kill the bacteria so it will put a stop to the odor for good, not just cover it up. Can be found in a good hardware store or supermarket.

5.) For a container, pots and pans or freezer, cut two potatoes and sprinkle some common table salt on it and place in the container for a couple of hours. Then wash thoroughly.

6.) Wash items with baking soda solution. 1-2 tablespoons of baking soda to 1 quart of water. Keep baking soda in the refrigerator or freezer where you normally store fish.

7.) For pots and pans try brewing some tea for 10-15 minutes. Discard and wash.

8.) For hands, etc. rubs hands with salt and then wash with a lemon scented soap or mild lemon detergent. Liberal use of nail brush at this time will also help.

9.) For clothes, give them a good soak in NappiSan or any other nappy/diaper soaker.

10.) For the fishing boat, body, clothes and children try "Simple Green". Usually can be found at your local supermarket.

11.) "Simple Green" can also be carried along on your fishing trip to clean the smell and residue of insect repellent and sunscreen from your flies or leaders.

12.) This one might take a while but is recommended as having worked. If you have had an ice chest leak in the car try covering with newspaper. This can also be used for the freezer problem. It takes a while for the newspaper to absorb the odor but it seems to do so.

13.) While cooking to reduce the fish smell in the area try heating a little bit of olive oil in a pan and adding cinnamon to it. The fish smell will give way to the sweet cinnamon smell.

14.) If you want to get rid of the fish smell before you cook it, soak the raw fish in a little bit of vinegar and a lot of water. Is should not affect the flavor in any way.

15.) For the microwave try soaking a wet dish towel with a squirt of dish detergent on it and then place it in the center of the microwave and run the microwave on high for a few minutes. The scented stem will clean it. Then let air for a few minutes.

Then there are also some commercial solutions. Here are a few you might want to try:

1.) Zielonka Smell Buster - made in Germany out of special high-grade stainless steel. The Smell Buster is supposed to neutralize odors as soon as it comes into contact with air and water, leaving it fresh and clean. Try an internet search to find it.

2.) Several companies manufacture a liquid concentrate which sells for about .00 for 1/4 to 1/2 ounce. A couple drops are put on a piece of cotton and placed in the area to absorb odors, in the cabinet or in a room.

A couple of brand names are: "Odor-Away" by Wrap-on Co., available at hardware and hospital supply stores and "Clean-Air" found at some appliance repair shops.

Hospital supply stores carry Dow Chemical Hospital Disinfectant and Deodorant Spray. Spray into cabinet and quickly shut the door.

Hope some of these solutions will work for you to get rid of the fish smell wherever it is a problem for you.

Conduct An Absolutely Free Phone Number Reverse Lookup

With the help of the internet, phone numbers can now be traced right from the comfort of your sitting room. Getting information about a person, catching a cheating spouse, dealing with a prankster, identifying unidentified numbers are but few reasons why we want to make a reverse lookup. Conducting an absolutely free reverse phone number lookup is not as difficult as you think, but below are simple steps to lookup any number:

Get the number you want to search, open an explorer and type in google.com. from the Google website you will find a search box which is called the search engine. Type in the number you want to lookup in the search box and wait for some seconds. The search engine deliver result in seconds, look through the result to see if there is any useful information. If there isn't, try typing the number along with the country code to see what happened.

Most times, numbers outside USA need to be typed with the country code before result will be delivered. This is to be more specific and location minded. What the search box does is searching through the entire web to see if there is any way the number you search has been used on the internet before and deliver any information obtained.

Conduct An Absolutely Free Phone Number Reverse Lookup

However, this method can work best on listed and business numbers while unlisted and mobile numbers cannot work using this method of lookup. Because mobile numbers are kept private as there is no such site where you can lookup up a mobile number for free.

Is there any other option?

Yes there is, this is called a paid reverse phone lookup directory. This directory help you to get details about a person by giving you access to their huge database of information for a small fee. They have in their database information on listed numbers, unlisted numbers, mobile numbers and cellular numbers and can supply information such as full name, address of the owner, other phone numbers of the owner, locating the person with GPS, marital status of the person and lots more.

Paid directory is a good way to conduct a reverse phone lookup especially if you did not want to pass through the hassle of using the search engine to make a search or unfortunately your search with the search engine yielded no result.

Moreover, you should be careful in choosing a directory because most directory are scam and can give you outdated information. therefore make you search to find a reliable directory or you choose from my recommendation.

2008 Boys and Girls Highlights Thus Far:

All of the highlights in 2008 have thus far been produced by the girls, led by Roosevelt High School's new USA high school record of 8:43.12 in the 4x800-Meter Relay, breaking the current 8:50.41 record. Roosevelt is located in Greenbelt (MD). Think for a moment about how difficult it would be to find 4 girls on a high school track team that could AVERAGE less than 2:11 for the 800-meter run.

Second best effort comes from Jordan Hasay of Mission Prep in San Luis Obispo (CA). Hasay has run 4:17.46 for the 1,500 Meter and has run two races faster at the same distance in 2007. The USA high school record for the 1,500 is 4:16.6, less than a second away.

Will she set a new USA high school record? The odds say yes. She also has the current best times nationally in the 3,000-Meter and 3,200-Meter runs as well. She has to be the premier girls high school middle distance runner in the country.

Rachel Laurent of Vanderbilt Catholic High School in Houma (LA) is only 1.25 inches shy of matching the USA high school record of 14-feet-1.25 inches in the pole vault. Her best height so far is 14-feet even. Can she set the national record? I say yes, she can.

Watch out for Hannah Carson of Rhodes Junior High School in Mesa (AZ). She has thrown the javelin 167-feet-11-inches to set a new USA high school freshman record. The national record is 176-feet-5-inches. Wow, she has an incredible chance to garner a national record before she graduates from high school.

We will keep you posted on the final 2008 results after the high school district and state meet competitions are held. I am sensing some more new national records from these outstanding young women.

GPS Systems - The Pros and Cons

The requirement of a global navigation system was recognized during the Second World War. Hence, the invention of GPS System (Global Positioning System) had taken place in the year, 1973. The USDOD (United States Department of Defense) had great contributions in this invention. However, in 1994, it became fully accessible for the public.

Within few years, other super powers had also started developing their own GPS systems like the Russian Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS), the European Union Galileo Positioning System, Compass Navigation System of China and Regional Navigational Satellite System of India.

The following points would highlight the advantages of this worldwide navigating system.

GPS Systems - The Pros and Cons

It regularly gives weather updates especially during your outdoor activities.
It plays a major role in surveying the unfavorable features of land. These features range from volcanic eruptions, high falls, trenches, floating icebergs, hot springs to plate movements of Earth. These detailed surveys are very much required for the construction purposes of transport, building, communication and drawing boundaries for property ownership.
GPS system fitted in your car can prove to be highly beneficial in times of traffic jams. They provide a proper direction to avoid these jams thus saving a lot of your precious time. It can even save your car from theft. These navigators with the help of satellites give the correct location of your lost car and inform the required authorities about it. Therefore, weather forecast and positioning maps make one feel comfortable during on road journeys.
Tracking down the movements of children has become lot easier for their parents with GPS machines. They not only give the information of their tracks but also about the other hideouts. Even the lost pets can come back to their masters with this positioning system.
The size can be as small as a button or the dial of a watch. Hence, portability is no more a barrier for your tracking exercise.
You can also keep an eye on the truck movements carrying your goods. It adds a safety quotient to your business.
It also seems to be quite good in predicting the damages or problems in various structures thus preventing forth-coming disasters.
Fleet tracking is a lot easier now days with the GPS systems. It helps to retain the identification details of these vehicles. It saves a lot of time for journey plans during the fleet movements.

Definitely, GPS system comes with a lot of disadvantages. These are:

The purchase of a GPS system may make you think again about its advantages.
The facilities of this system can be availed only in clear weathers. Tall buildings might lead to its inaccessibility.
All the versions of this system might not direct you turn by turn.
Updated versions of the GPS maps might not provide all the information about the new roads or the restructured paths.
Since it is not plugged to a power source so they wholly depends on the life of batteries.

So being an alert citizen, you should always be aware of its advantages and disadvantages!
